    AMMONIA CONCENTRATION MONITORING USING ARDUINO PLATFORM

    Get PDF
    In order to evaluate the efficacy of ammonia photocatalysis, it is necessary to continuously monitor its concentration during the process. This paper presents ammonia concentration monitoring using a low cost (non-professional) electronic device. The device is based on an open source electronic platform, and it is composed of the MQ-137 ammonia detection sensor, connected to the Croduino Basic 2 board. Sensitive material of the sensor is a metal oxide (SnO2). The change in the ammonia concentration causes a change in the electrical resistance, which is measured and used for the ammonia concentration estimation. Four measurements, with ammonia concentration ranging from 0-500 ppm were performed in the controlled environment. With the purpose of the device calibration and repeatability test, along with a low-cost device, the monitoring was carried out also with a professional device, Geotech GA5000 gas analyser. Using the information provided in the sensor datasheet, together with the measured data, the measurement error of the low-cost device was assessed. After calibration, ammonia concentrations measured using a low-cost device, are consistent with those obtained from the professional device

    From ERL to MBZIRC: Development of An Aerial-Ground Robotic Team for Search and Rescue

    Get PDF
    This chapter describes the efforts of the LARICS team in the 2019 European Robotics League (ERL) Emergency Robots and the 2020 Mohamed Bin Zayed International Robotics Challenge (MBZIRC) robotics competitions. We focus on the implementation of hardware and software modules that enable the deployment of aerial-ground robotic teams in unstructured environments for joint missions. In addition to the overall system specification, we outline the main algorithms for operation in such conditions: autonomous exploration of unknown environments and detection of objects of interest. Analysis of the results shows the success of the developed system in the competition arena of two of the largest outdoor robotics challenges. Throughout the chapter, we highlight the evolution of the robotic system based on the experience gained in the ERL competition. We conclude the chapter with key findings and additional improvement ideas to advance the state of the art in search and rescue applications of heterogeneous robotic teams

    Sulphur Kβ emission spectra reveal protonation states of aqueous sulfuric acid

    Get PDF
    In this paper we report an X-ray emission study of bulk aqueous sulfuric acid. Throughout the range of molarities from 1 M to 18 M the sulfur K beta emission spectra from H2SO4 (aq) depend on the molar fractions and related deprotonation of H2SO4. We compare the experimental results with results from emission spectrum calculations based on atomic structures of single molecules and structures from ab initio molecular dynamics simulations. We show that the S K beta emission spectrum is a sensitive probe of the protonation state of the acid molecules. Using non-negative matrix factorization we are able to extract the fractions of different protonation states in the spectra, and the results are in good agreement with the simulation for the higher part of the concentration range.Peer reviewe

    Koncept novega razlagalnega slovarja slovenskega knjižnega jezika opredeljuje vsebino in zgradbo sodobnega enojezičnega informativno-normativnega slovarja, ki nastaja na Inštitutu za slovenski jezik Frana Ramovša ZRC SAZU. Koncept v prvem poglavju pojasni osnovne lastnosti slovarja, njegov obseg in namen, v drugem poglavju je podrobno razčlenjena sestava slovarskega sestavka, tretje poglavje pa oriše proces redaktorskega dela. Slovar bo vseboval približno 100.000 slovarskih sestavkov, v katerih bodo opisane slovnične, pomenske in druge lastnosti eno- in večbesednih leksikalnih enot sodobne knjižne slovenščine. Vsakoletni slovarski prirastek bo objavljen na portalu Fran: slovarji Inštituta za slovenski jezik Frana Ramovša ZRC SAZU.Vsebina koncepta je plod večletnega leksikološkega in leksikografskega dela sodelavcev Inštituta za slovenski jezik Frana Ramovša ZRC SAZU, posvetovanj s člani uredniškega odbora in prizadevanj za soglasje širše javnosti o podobi novega slovarja. Koncept so sprejeli in potrdili Znanstveni svet Inštituta za slovenski jezik Frana Ramovša ZRC SAZU, Znanstveni svet ZRC SAZU, Razred za filološke in literarne vede SAZU in Izvršilni odbor Predsedstva SAZU

    HEP Community White Paper on Software trigger and event reconstruction

    Get PDF
    Realizing the physics programs of the planned and upgraded high-energy physics (HEP) experiments over the next 10 years will require the HEP community to address a number of challenges in the area of software and computing. For this reason, the HEP software community has engaged in a planning process over the past two years, with the objective of identifying and prioritizing the research and development required to enable the next generation of HEP detectors to fulfill their full physics potential. The aim is to produce a Community White Paper which will describe the community strategy and a roadmap for software and computing research and development in HEP for the 2020s. The topics of event reconstruction and software triggers were considered by a joint working group and are summarized together in this document.Comment: Editors Vladimir Vava Gligorov and David Lang

    A Roadmap for HEP Software and Computing R&D for the 2020s

    Get PDF
    Particle physics has an ambitious and broad experimental programme for the coming decades. This programme requires large investments in detector hardware, either to build new facilities and experiments, or to upgrade existing ones. Similarly, it requires commensurate investment in the R&D of software to acquire, manage, process, and analyse the shear amounts of data to be recorded. In planning for the HL-LHC in particular, it is critical that all of the collaborating stakeholders agree on the software goals and priorities, and that the efforts complement each other. In this spirit, this white paper describes the R&D activities required to prepare for this software upgrade.Peer reviewe

    Search for the doubly heavy baryon Ξbc+\it{\Xi}_{bc}^{+} decaying to J/ψΞc+J/\it{\psi} \it{\Xi}_{c}^{+}

    Get PDF
    A first search for the Ξbc+J/ψΞc+\it{\Xi}_{bc}^{+}\to J/\it{\psi}\it{\Xi}_{c}^{+} decay is performed by the LHCb experiment with a data sample of proton-proton collisions, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9fb19\,\mathrm{fb}^{-1} recorded at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13TeV13\mathrm{\,Te\kern -0.1em V}. Two peaking structures are seen with a local (global) significance of 4.3(2.8)4.3\,(2.8) and 4.1(2.4)4.1\,(2.4) standard deviations at masses of 6571MeV ⁣/c26571\,\mathrm{Me\kern -0.1em V\!/}c^2 and 6694MeV ⁣/c26694\,\mathrm{Me\kern -0.1em V\!/}c^2, respectively. Upper limits are set on the Ξbc+\it{\Xi}_{bc}^{+} baryon production cross-section times the branching fraction relative to that of the Bc+J/ψDs+B_{c}^{+}\to J/\it{\psi} D_{s}^{+} decay at centre-of-mass energies of 8 and 13TeV13\mathrm{\,Te\kern -0.1em V}, in the Ξbc+\it{\Xi}_{bc}^{+} and in the Bc+B_{c}^{+} rapidity and transverse-momentum ranges from 2.0 to 4.5 and 0 to 20GeV ⁣/c20\,\mathrm{Ge\kern -0.1em V\!/}c, respectively. Upper limits are presented as a function of the Ξbc+\it{\Xi}_{bc}^{+} mass and lifetime.Comment: All figures and tables, along with machine-readable versions and any supplementary material and additional information, are available at https://cern.ch/lhcbproject/Publications/p/LHCb-PAPER-2022-005.html (LHCb public pages
